  • CALL TO WORSHIP

      We come from all walks of life;

a people gathered from different places, different histories, different lifestyles, with different experiences of disappointment and fear, hope and joy.

In this season of Lent, as we make our way to the cross,

we strive to follow Christ’s example:

We admit betrayal and fear that are part of life.

We embrace trust in God and love for humanity.

We come together as a people whom Jesus calls into community.

We come hoping to find companionship for the journey, solidarity for the struggle.

      We come to the Table where all are welcome and where we are fed;

at God’s Table everyone has a place and none are turned away.

We journey forward knowing we are not alone.

Our God is with us yesterday, today, and forever.

  • OPENING HYMN           How Great is Our God        Tomlin, E. Cash, J. Reeves

                           (page 5 or Hymnal 574)

God of our journey through life,

We walked into church today needing you in different ways.

Some of us need strength because we are facing a big challenge.

Some of us need hope, because we feel like giving up.

Some of us need love, because we are feeling alone.

          silent prayers of confession

However glad we are, however out of sorts we are, forgive us.

Turn us back to You and to Your ways.

Fix our eyes on You and focus our attention on Your best practices,

so that we live with meaning and integrity,

our relationships grounded in mutuality and respect.

As we struggle to follow Jesus in the way of life-risking love,

transform us by the renewing of our hearts and our minds. May it be so, Amen.

How Great is Our God                                          C. Tomiln, E. Cash, J. Reeves

The splendor of the King, clothed in majesty,

Let all the earth rejoice, all the earth rejoice,

He wraps Himself in light, and darkness tries to hide

And trembles at His voice, trembles at His voice,

How great is our God, sing with me,

How great is our God, and all will see,

How great, how great, is our God

And age-to-age He stands, and time is in His hands,

Beginning and the End, Beginning and the End,

The Godhead three-in-one, Father Spirit Son

The Lion and the Lamb, Lion and the Lamb

Name above all names, worthy of all praise,

My heart will sing, how great is our God (REPEAT)

Come To The Table                                       B. McDonald, D. Frey, B. Glover

We all start on the outside
The outside looking in
This is where grace begins
We were hungry, we were thirsty
With nothing left to give
Oh the shape that we were in
Just when all hope seemed lost
Love opened the door for us

He said come to the table
Come join the sinners who have been redeemed
Take your place beside the Savior
Sit down and be set free
Come to the table

Come meet this motley crew of misfits
These liars and these thieves
There's no one unwelcome here
So that sin and shame that you brought with you
You can leave it at the door
And let mercy draw you near

To the thief, to the doubter, To the hero and the coward
To the prisoner and the soldier, To the young, to the older
All who hunger, all who thirst, All the last, all the first
All the paupers and the princes, All who fail you've been forgiven
All who dream, all who suffer, All who loved and lost another
All the chained, all the free, All who follow, all who lead
Anyone who's been let down, All the lost you have been found
All who've been labeled right or wrong, Everyone who hears this song

You Are My Vision                                                  Rend Collective arrangement

You are my vision, O King of my heart
Nothing else satisfies, only You Lord
You are my best thought by day or by night
Waking or sleeping, Your presence my light

You are my wisdom, You are my true word
I ever with You, and You with me Lord
You're my great Father, and I'm Your true son
You dwell inside me, together we're one

You are my battle-shield, sword for the fight
You are my dignity, You're my delight (my shelter)
You're my soul's shelter and You're my high tower
Come raise me heavenward, O power of my power

I don't want riches or man's empty praise
You're my inheritance, now and always
You and You only, the first in my heart
High king of Heaven, my treasure You are

High King of Heaven, when victory's won
May I reach Heaven's joy, O bright Heaven's Son
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall
Still be my vision, O ruler of all

Heart of my own heart, whatever befall
Still be my vision, O ruler of all
