  • GOD CALLS US TO WORSHIP WITH ONE ANOTHER

      We gather with one another to absorb the steadfast love of God.

      God is too immense for the universe to contain,

     yet is closer to us than anything or anyone else.

     God is nearer to us than our own heartbeat,

     closer even than our thoughts and our feelings.

     God was pleased to have all fullness dwell in Christ,

      and through Christ to reconcile to himself all things,

      whether things on earth or things in heaven,

      by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.          Colossians 1:19

        Let us also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

      through whom we have now received reconciliation.              Romans 5:11

  • OPENING HYMN 531 God, You Call Us to This Place                       SALZBURG

God of monumental patience and of prodigal mercy,

you know when we stray, no longer aligning with your love.

You know our trials and our tendencies:

     Some of us prefer to clutch resentments and grudges close to our hearts.

     Some of us rehearse wrongdoing over and over…over again.

     Some of us place conditions or limitations on ourselves or others.

Release us, loosen the grip of these things.

Please forgive us, and help us forgive ourselves and others.

      Receive the jagged edges and our broken pieces of our lives:

     Open our hearts and our eyes; expand our vision to align with yours.

     Inspire us to perceive problems as possibilities.

Hear our desire to trust your heart when ours are torn apart…

                                     (silent prayers of confession)

      SONG OF CONFESSION       Lord, I Need You    -by Christy Nockels, Daniel Carson,

                                                               Jesse Reeves, Kristian Stanfill, Matt Maher

So teach my song to rise to You

When temptation comes my way

And when I cannot stand, I’ll fall on You

Jesus, You’re my hope and stay

And when I cannot stand, I’ll fall on You

Jesus, You’re my hope and stay

Lord I need You, oh I need You

Ev'ry hour I need You

My one defense, my righteousness

Oh God, how I need You

                                    (The children are invited to Sunday school)

HYMN OF REFLECTION  677        For the Glories of God’s Grace           MONKLAND

                                  RESPONDING TO GOD’S WORD

OFFERTORY ANTHEM          Where Charity and Love Prevail         Quintet

                                                                                             - Normand Gouin

Where charity and love prevail, there God is ever found;

Brought here together by Christ's love, by love we are thus bound.

With grateful joy and holy fear God's charity we learn;

Let us with heart and mind and soul now love God in return.

Forgive we now each other's faults as we our faults confess;

And let us love each other well in Christian holiness.

Let strife among us be unknown, let all contention cease;

Be God's the glory that we seek, be ours God's holy peace.

Let us recall that in our midst dwells God's begotten Son;

As members of his body joined, we are in Christ, in Christ made one.

No race nor creed can love exclude if honored be God's name.

Our family embraces all whose Father is the same. Amen.

  • OFFERTORY SONG 863 Take My Life and Let It Be HENDON

Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of thy love.

Take my feet and let them be

Swift and beautiful for thee,

Swift and beautiful for thee.

We believe that Christ's work of reconciliation is made manifest in the church

as the community of believers who have been reconciled with God and with one another (Eph. 2:11-22);

  • that this unity of the people of God must be manifested

and be active in a variety of ways:

  • in that we love one another;
  • that we experience, practice and pursue community with one another;
  • that we are obligated to give ourselves willingly and joyfully to be of benefit

and blessing to one another;

  • work for one cause, and share one hope;
  • together know and bear one another's burdens,
  • pray together;
  • together serve God in this world; and together fight against

all which may threaten or hinder this unity.

We believe that God has entrusted the church with the message of reconciliation in and through Jesus Christ,

  • that the church is called to be the salt of the earth

and the light of the world,

  • that the church is called blessed because it is a peacemaker…

Therefore, we reject any doctrine

which, in such a situation, sanctions in the name of the gospel or of the will of God

the forced separation of people on the grounds of race and color and thereby in advance obstructs and weakens the ministry and experience of reconciliation in Christ.

       PRAYERS OF THANKSGIVING AND INTERCESSION ……concluding with the Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name,

thy kingdom come,

thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts,

as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
