                                                              (verses 1 & 2)

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Lord God, we have a tendency to take all that you do for us for granted.

Forgive us when we treat the world with callous indifference, using its resources       carelessly and with little regard to the future. Forgive us when we insist on war as solutions for problems rather than peaceful striving. Forgive us when the weak and downtrodden go unnoticed in our midst. Make us fully aware of all our blessings and our responsibilities. Give us again a spirit of joy in serving you. Help us be agents of peace and hope to others...

(continue with silent prayers of confession)

Jesus said, I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry,

whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. (John 6:35)

                  The Lord be with you.

                  And also with you.

                  Lift up your hearts.

We lift them up to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right for us to give thanks and praise.

It is right and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to

you, almighty and everlasting God. Gracious God, send your Holy Spirit upon us,

we pray, that the bread which we break and the cup which we bless may be to

us the communion of the body and blood of Christ. With the heavenly host and

with saints of all times and places, we lift up our hearts in joyful praise

                   singing together...
