Sunday Worship Service (Sanctuary 10am)Back to all Events
- Date: December 9, 2018
- Time: 10:00am – 11:15am
Welcome to the Preakness Reformed Church!
“Here in this short lection from Luke 3, the reading devotes significant space to a listing of about seven names of the high ranking folks of that time. But the most significant action in the cosmos was taking place nowhere near any of those high and mighty types. The highway to salvation and the Word of the Lord came from and go to the least likely places you could name.” Scott Hoezee

LIGHTING OF THE ADVENT WREATH
Introduction and Sentences:
In this season of Advent, we celebrate God’s peace.
Jesus Christ, whose birth we await, calls our community to justice and leads us in the way of peace.
The Community of Christ is forgiving. We call one another to honesty and humility and respond to each other with abundant grace.
The Community of Christ values relationships. We live in harmony with one another even when we disagree, and strive to glorify God in everything we do.
The Community of Christ longs for unity. We work together with other churches and organizations, and live out God’s reconciling love for all the world to see.
Together, we are a sign of God’s peace in the world. - written by Rev. Kristine O’Brien

- OPENING HYMN 59 Comfort, Comfort Now My People FREU DICH SEHR/
Lord God, forgive us for turning away from you and from one another. We pray that during this season of Advent, we will open our ears to hear, open our eyes to see, and open our hearts to love in order that we may come to know your ways and follow your paths. Help us grow in love for one another, and for all creation…

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
